The Douglas C-47 Skytrain was also referred to as “Dakota”. It was one of the most popular transport aircraft from World War II.?Produced by the USA, it was also used by armies of other Allied countries.?The C-47 was based on the civilian version of Douglas DC-3.?It acted in principle on all fronts of World War II and was operated long after the war ended.?It was used for landing paratroopers and towing gliders, as well as for transporting supplies, ammunition and evacuating the wounded. This new construction block model from COBI depicts the Douglas C-47 Skytrain (Dakota) aircraft in the Berlin Airlift version, which served as an air bridge. All kinds of cargo, supplies and even coal for fuel were delivered to Berlin by air. The aircraft Model has movable elements such as rotating wheels with rubber tires, rotating propeller, and doors that open.
