The P-51 Mustang earned its reputation through long-range fighter operations during World War II. It helped protect Allied heavy bombers on missions deep into occupied Europe and Germany. That ability to remain with bomber formations made the Mustang an important part of the Allied air campaign.

The P-51D introduced the familiar bubble canopy, which improved the pilot’s view, and carried six .50-caliber machine guns. Beyond escort duty, Mustangs attacked ground targets. The Flying Bulls Connection

This set represents the restored Mustang known as “Nooky Booky IV.” The Flying Bulls acquired the aircraft from France in March 2021 and brought it to Salzburg, Austria. Its livery honors Major Leonard “Kit” Carson.
