Experience the engineering of one of naval history’s most imposing icons with the COBI German Battleship Tirpitz (Set #4853). This 1:700 scale model provides a sophisticated building experience. Furthermore, it captures the sleek lines and formidable profile of the Bismarck-class sister ship without requiring any glue or paint.
The Tirpitz holds the record as the largest battleship that a European navy ever built. Germany commissioned her in 1941 and primarily stationed her in Norway to act as a “fleet in being.” Consequently, her mere presence forced the Allies to maintain heavy naval forces in the area while they struggled to protect vital Arctic convoys.
Norwegians famously nicknamed her the “Lonely Queen of the North.” Although she never engaged in a ship-to-ship surface battle like her sister, the Bismarck, she remained a constant psychological threat. In fact, the Tirpitz survived numerous daring missions, including Operation Source (X-Craft midget submarines) and several heavy RAF bomber raids. Finally, British Tallboy bombs capsized the massive vessel in late 1944.
Both collectors and young historians will appreciate the craftsmanship of this set. Despite the compact 1:700 scale, the design packs an incredible amount of detail:
Precision Engineering: You can interact with the model via rotating main battery turrets and manually spinning propellers.
High-Quality Graphics: COBI uses pad-printed markings instead of messy stickers. Therefore, the deck and hull details remain vibrant and permanent over time.
Seamless Compatibility: These blocks work perfectly with other leading brick manufacturers. As a result, you can easily integrate the ship into your existing collection.
Display Ready: The model measures 14 inches long. Thus, it strikes the perfect balance between intricate detail and a space-saving footprint for your bookshelf or office desk.
