The COBI Heinkel HE 111 H-3 Medium Bomber 5772 recreates one of the most recognizable German aircraft of World War II. Its broad wings, twin engines, glazed nose, green camouflage, and yellow identification markings give this 1:48 scale aircraft an unmistakable appearance.
Built from 788 pieces, this detailed aircraft provides an enjoyable construction experience and impressive display value. The finished bomber measures 13.4 inches long and has a substantial 18.1-inch wingspan.
The Heinkel He 111 was originally developed during the 1930s as a fast passenger aircraft. However, the design was soon adapted into a military bomber and became one of Germany’s primary medium bombers during the early years of World War II.
He 111 bombers participated in the invasion of Poland, the Battle of France, the Battle of Britain, the Balkan campaigns, and operations on the Eastern Front. During the Battle of Britain in 1940, its distinctive glazed nose became a familiar sight over England.
Although the aircraft could carry a useful bomb load, it became increasingly vulnerable to modern fighters. Heavy losses during daylight operations eventually pushed the He 111 into nighttime bombing, transport, torpedo attack, and other specialized missions.
The H-3 was an important early-war variant equipped with improved engines and additional defensive armament. Read more about the aircraft’s development and combat history on the Heinkel He 111 Wikipedia page.

The COBI Heinkel HE 111 H-3 Medium Bomber 5772 includes an opening internal bomb bay loaded with removable SC 50 bombs. Open the compartment to reveal the payload or arrange the bombs beside the aircraft for a ground-display scene.
Rotating propellers, movable wing flaps, rolling landing gear, and rubber tires add interactive mechanical details. The carefully shaped transparent cockpit recreates the bomber’s famous greenhouse-style nose.
Permanent printed markings create the aircraft’s camouflage pattern, national insignia, and identification details. There are no stickers to apply, so the finished model maintains a clean and durable appearance.
Once construction is complete, place the bomber on the included brick-built display stand. A printed aircraft information plate completes the museum-style presentation.
Display this early-war bomber beside the later COBI Heinkel HE 111 H-22 with V1 Flying Bomb Set #5771.
Together, the two aircraft show how the He 111 evolved from a conventional medium bomber into a specialized late-war launch aircraft. The matching 1:48 scale makes them especially well suited for a side-by-side display.
The COBI Heinkel HE 111 H-3 Medium Bomber 5772 combines aviation history, functional details, and strong display potential. Its opening bomb bay, movable components, printed camouflage, and large wingspan make it an excellent centerpiece for a World War II aircraft collection.
Build the aircraft, load the bombs, spin the propellers, and place this famous twin-engine bomber at the center of your airfield display.
