COBI Historical Collection WWII JAGDPANZER IV/70 (V) Vehicle
The Jagdpanzer IV/70 (V), officially designated Sd.Kfz. 162/1, entered combat during the final stages of World War II. Built on the proven Panzer IV chassis, it mounted the powerful 7.5 cm Pak 42 L/70 anti-tank gun, the same weapon used on the Panther tank. Its heavily sloped frontal armor and extremely low profile made it difficult to detect and highly effective in ambush warfare.
This tank destroyer fought in several major campaigns, including Normandy, the Eastern Front, Italy, and the Ardennes Offensive during the Battle of the Bulge. Crews valued the vehicle for its excellent defensive capabilities and powerful gun, which could engage Allied armor at long distances.
COBI faithfully recreates this historic armored vehicle with outstanding printed details, realistic shaping, and interactive features perfect for both display and hands-on building.
The Jagdpanzer IV/70 (V) was developed as Germany sought more effective anti-tank vehicles during the later years of World War II. Engineers designed the vehicle with sloped frontal armor and a fixed superstructure to maximize protection while keeping the profile low.
Unlike traditional turreted tanks, the Jagdpanzer IV/70 focused entirely on destroying enemy armor. Its powerful long-barreled Pak 42 L/70 gun gave it impressive penetration capability against Allied tanks, especially during defensive battles in Western Europe and on the Eastern Front.
The vehicle became especially well known during the Battle of Normandy and the Ardennes Offensive, where concealed defensive positions allowed crews to ambush advancing Allied forces effectively. Its low silhouette and sloped armor earned it a reputation as one of Germany’s most capable late-war tank destroyers.
