I am excited that COBI chose to model this plane, the Avenger is one of my favorite WWII aircraft, they took on many roles during the war, President George Bush Senior was a pilot during WWII of the venerable Avenger, President Bush was out last President who was veteran, their is one on display at his Presidential Library in College Station, TX.

I cannot wait to receive this model, it should be here in the next month or so according to COBI, I am glad I pre-ordered this one, now hopefully they will do another of the WWII planes I really liked, the A1D Sky-Raider, it served during WWII, Korea and Vietnam, it was the predecessor of the AWESOME A-10 Warthog “flying tank” close air support aircraft, the A1D was still in service until the late 1980’s with some reserve Navy and Marine squadrons and was still in service in a few foreign and friendly air forces around the world. The A1 wa a very versatile plane, it carried a HUGE and diverse amount of ordinance, in different configurations it could have a crew of 4, or could carry up to 3 stretchers for medevac where the additional crew would have been in the plane, it was armored just like the A10 and could take a beating and still fly back to its base. They were referred to as “Sandies” during Vietnam, this is not a small plane, it could be carrier launched or of course take off from a FOB, many times an austere air field with dirt or grass runways. I really hope COBI models this aircraft!

One star off for not coming with any kind of a name plate. All my other models have something. This was a great build and though it’s smaller scale, it still works. It’s funny looking next to a fighter, but in a bomber group it looks right. The rear turret build was interesting and I like how they pulled it off. Great color scheme, let’s see that for a F6F model!

  3. Jaycob O.

Amazing build and quality! The plane is sturdy and very detailed. Cobi perfectly captured the look of this iconic plane from the dihedral wings and canopy. The only thing I wish was the rear turret moved and there was a name plate. Besides that I would definitely recommend!!
