Detailed Inside and Out
The removable upper sections reveal a detailed fighting compartment with crew stations, ammunition, equipment, and mechanical components. At the rear, another removable panel provides access to a brick-built Maybach HL120 TRM engine. The engine can also be removed and displayed separately.
A movable gun barrel allows you to adjust the elevation for different display poses. Functional linked tracks and detailed suspension components complete the running gear, while spare road wheels, tools, equipment boxes, and exterior accessories give the vehicle a suitably field-ready appearance.
The set also includes a German artilleryman wearing a green uniform and field cap. A wrench and fuel can help create a maintenance scene beside the vehicle. Finally, the printed display plate identifies the StuG III Ausf. G and its 1:28 scale.

From Infantry Support to Tank Hunter
The original Sturmgeschütz III began as an armored vehicle designed to provide direct fire support for infantry. It used the proven Panzer III chassis but replaced the rotating turret with a fixed, low-profile armored superstructure. This arrangement made the vehicle less expensive to produce and more difficult to spot than many conventional tanks.
As enemy armor became more powerful, later StuG III versions received long-barreled guns that greatly improved their anti-armor performance. The Ausf. G carried the 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/48 and became the final and most widely produced version of the series.
StuG III Ausf. G vehicles served in major campaigns across Europe, including the Eastern Front, the Battle of Kursk, the Italian Campaign, Normandy, the Ardennes Offensive, and the final defense of Germany. Their low silhouette and effective gun made them particularly useful in defensive positions and ambushes.
Expand Your 1:28 Armor Collection
The model’s size, interior construction, and removable mechanical components make it an excellent companion to the COBI Panzer III Ausf. H Tank Set 2672. Displaying the two together also highlights the connection between the StuG III and the Panzer III chassis on which it was based.
The COBI StuG III Ausf. G Assault Gun Set 2676 offers a satisfying building experience and a detailed finished model. It is an excellent choice for World War II history enthusiasts, armored-vehicle collectors, and builders who appreciate mechanical details hidden beneath the armor.
