The COBI ORP Sokół Submarine represents a high-quality brick-built model of one of the most distinguished vessels in the Polish Navy. As a premier entry in the COBI 1:300 scale naval series, this 142-piece set appeals to history enthusiasts and collectors who value precision. Furthermore, this model serves as a moving tribute to the daring crews who served beneath the waves, offering a tangible connection to maritime history.
The ORP Sokół (N97) began its journey when the British Navy loaned a U-class submarine to Poland in 1941. Consequently, alongside her sister ship, ORP Dzik, she became part of the legendary group known as the “Terrible Twins.” While operating primarily in the Mediterranean Sea from bases in Malta, the COBI ORP Sokół Submarine effectively terrorized Axis shipping.
Her most notable engagements include:
The Attack on Navarino (1941): During this daring raid, the crew successfully torpedoed an Italian transport ship despite heavy anti-submarine defenses.
The Siege of Malta: The Sokół played a critical role in disrupting enemy supply lines. As a result, the crew contributed significantly to the ultimate Allied victory in North Africa.
By the time she finished her service in 1946, the ORP Sokół had participated in dozens of combat patrols and damaged over 10 enemy vessels. Today, the Polish Navy Museum in Gdynia preserves this legacy, where history comes alive for every visitor.
This set offers more than a simple build; it functions as a miniature historical monument. Specifically, collectors will appreciate the following features:
High-Quality Pad Printing: COBI prints all hull markings, including the famous “N97,” directly onto the bricks. Therefore, the COBI ORP Sokół Submarine maintains its vibrant look for years without the hassle of peeling stickers.
Display Ready: The set includes a specialized brick-built display stand and a detailed name placard for professional presentation.
Naval Scale Consistency: Because engineers designed it at a 1:300 scale, it fits perfectly alongside other COBI WW2 Ships like the Bismarck or HMS Hood.
